According to A2ZDIRECTORY, Nevada is a U.S. state located in the western, mountain west, and southwestern regions of the United States. It is bordered by Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast, and Utah to the east. Nevada is the seventh-most extensive and 35th most populous state in the United States. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada’s people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area where three of the state’s four largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada’s capital is Carson City. Nevada is largely desert and semi-arid, much of it within the Great Basin. Areas south of the Great Basin are within the Mojave Desert, while Lake Tahoe and Sierra Nevada lie on its western edge. About 86% of Nevada’s land is managed by various jurisdictions of US government: most of it by the Bureau of Land Management; some by National Park Service; smaller amounts by Fish and Wildlife Service; even smaller amounts by Forest Service; and a few acres by Bureau of Indian Affairs. Nevada has more mountain ranges than any other U.S. state except California with its most prominent ones being: Toiyabe Range (highest peak Boundary Peak – 13140 ft.), Ruby Mountains (highest peak Ruby Dome – 11902 ft.), Snake Range (highest peak Wheeler Peak – 13063 ft.) and Schell Creek Range (highest peak Arc Dome – 11773 ft.). It also contains numerous lakes such as Lake Mead and Pyramid Lake as well as hot springs such as Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas. The state is home to several national parks including Great Basin National Park which contains Lehman Caves, a large limestone cavern system featuring formations ranging from stalactites to helictites as well as rare shields made up entirely from aragonite crystals usually found only in gypsum caves like Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. The weather in Nevada is generally dry and sunny, with hot summers and cold winters. During the summer months, temperatures can reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, while during the winter months temperatures can dip down to below freezing. In the spring and fall, temperatures range between 40-80 degrees Fahrenheit. The state also experiences some rain and snow throughout the year, but overall it is quite dry compared to other states.
