Pearl Jewelery: a Real Treasure of Nature
Unlike other jewelry materials, such as silver or gold, beads are purely organic in origin. The shimmering treasures actually grow in living organisms and so they need some months to several years depending on the type of pearls to grow to their full size. In order to create a pearl, it does not need more than a shell and a grain of sand. As soon as the granule enters the shell, the granule begins in a natural defense process, forming a layer around the foreign body.
This layer is the known mother-of-pearl. Over time, the layer thickened until the foreign body is finally surrounded by mother-of-pearl. The result of this process is the finished bead.
While this process is actually happening with the very rare, enormously precious natural pearls, it is stimulated by the so-called cultured beads in an artificial way.
Small cores are inserted into the mussels by hand. The mussels are then exposed again in the sea, where they begin the process of mother-of-pearl formation around the foreign bodies.
In this way, pearls can now be produced in large numbers. The invention of this process, which made pearl jewelry affordable for many buyers, is due to the Japanese our site SMBER, who patented his idea in 1916. Although pearls are no longer exclusively rare natural treasures since the introduction of this process, they have preserved their mysterious, precious image to this day.
Jewelry Made of Pearls
Beaded jewelery is a timeless classic that works with every wardrobe and gives every look class and elegance. The beautiful jewels are thus perfect, always welcome gifts, which delight every heart-loving heart. What woman does not want a pair of filigree pearl earplugs? The quality of the shimmering treasures is measured by means of many different parameters, which are clearly different from other jewelery materials.
One of these parameters is the shape of the bead. Although today there are different varieties of dripping or pear-shaped varieties, the truly perfect, circular pearl is still the highest ideal.
Also the weight of a bead is crucial to its value. This can be specified in different ways. While the Momme (3.75 g) and the Grain (0.05 g) were considered as the preferred weight values for a long time, beads are today weighed mostly in carats (0.2 g).
However, its surface and the characteristic our site luster are particularly important for the value of a pearl. This luster, which is also called “chandelier”, is of decisive importance . In this case, the more uniform and shining the chandelier, the better the pearl.
The different types of pearls naturally have very different properties. They are divided into different subgroups. The best known are the salt and freshwater pearls. A popular example of the first group are the very popular Tahiti beads, which are known for their distinctive, colorful iridescent colors . The South Sea pearls, which are also very much coveted, are, however, distinguished by their radiant white or silver color and their high weight.
Freshwater pearls are appreciated for their uneven, abstract shapes. The best-known species of this genus is the Japanese our site pearl, which is often offered in very unusual shapes.
