What to Do When Your Dog Doesn’t Want to Eat?

Your dog doesn’t eat right? When you serve the feed, your dog looks, smells and not eat? What might be occurring?

Good food is directly linked to the health of the dog and your longevity, so stay tuned and make sure your pet is eating properly, always.

If your dog’s appetite, the first thing to do is a trip to the vet, to ensure that the dog is not experiencing any problems. If the pet has undergone such an examination without any pathology, it’s time for you to review some basic concepts and analyze what you’re doing wrong.

I’m going to share the concepts in seven stages, all with equal importance.

Hungry X Appetite:

We all hunger. It is natural for any animal. Hunger is the need to eat, other than the appetite, which would be the desire to eat. An example that I like to give is when our stomach is growling of starvation, but when we see the food, we felt wrapped. In other words, we are hungry, but not hungry. The same thing occurs with the dogs, and that’s what we should work, that is, your desire to eat.

Segregated food, ALWAYS:

The idea that the food must be available for your pet all day may sound fantastic, but the truth is that no one likes to have your food exposed more than a set time. We’re going back to the example:

You are a person who loves lasagna, and I tell you that from now on it’s just lasagna what you will eat-in breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only, instead of serve you fresh lasagna in every meal, I will give you a huge platter early, and you will serve throughout the day, at any time you feel hungry.

I ask you: your appetite will be the same? Their lasagna breakfast will have the same taste of dinner? How will be the texture of her at the end of the day? And the like, will have changed? Because, believe me, for your furry friend the feed will also not be so tasty!

Respect the amount:

In addition to the time spent in contact with the air, which causes the food to lose the odor and the taste, the quantity of what is served also influences on our appetite. No wonder people who put less food on the plate tend to repeat and, eventually, arrive to eat more than those that fill the dish the first time (and often end up dropping a large part at the end).

Behind the ration packs there are tables indicating the right amount to be ingested per day, according to the age and weight of each dog. Therefore, the next step is to weigh the right amount and dividing it into two or three times a day.

Respect the time:

So that your dog value food, don’t let available more than a period of half an hour. Serve in the morning, only 1/3 of the daily portion. If he doesn’t eat in 30 minutes, remove and discard it (since it’s not so tasty because of the exposure).

Serve again only in the next meal, respecting the time again. Remember that we must not let our dogs without food for a long time, so he skipped two meals, serve dinner more attractive. One option is to moisten the feed with a few drops of hot water, which causes her to vent more smell, more of a mood.

Feed is usually the best option:

With the exception of some dogs that have food restriction, the commercial ration is the best and most practical way to feed your dog. That’s because it ensures the nutrients for a balanced diet, and this is why “mix it” with pieces of chicken and meat, among other things, can be harmful. Excess nutrients are evil, as well as the lack of them.

Feed bag always closed:

In addition to the items mentioned above, ensure a crispy and fresh feed is critical, so the importance of the form of storage. Keep in a tightly closed location to save the feed bag, after open. There are specific boxes for that pet market.

Snacks, when to use them?

Snacks are great options for those times when we want to please the dog and say he behaved well, provided they are offered with caution. People who leave snacks available to the dog all day may not require him to have appetite for feed. Try leaving them for the moments of practice or as a reward for good behavior.

If your dog still continue not eating right, look for a professional training. He will assess the situation and point out what should be changed. Read more tips just at petwithsupplies!
