As detected by Digitimes Research, shipments of tablet “white-box” with phone capabilities, products that are usually HowSmb by other companies, declined on an annual basis in the second quarter.
This decline is due to the fact that major markets on which they are usually sold have seen a weakening economy and growing competition from China’s most important brands that are expanding in overseas markets.
Starting from the fourth quarter of 2014, the main markets in which they sold these types of tablets, including Russia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, have been hit by a major currency devaluation that has relatively limited buying and investment. This devaluation continued to influence the market in the second quarter of 2015.
However, some markets such as Brazil and South-East Asia has lowered the demand for tablet “white-box” because of the growing demand for Smartphones from 5.5 and 6 inches.
Although demand for the tablet with phone capabilities is becoming weaker in emerging markets, the Chinese company TCL and Huawei have recorded excellent smartphone sales in foreign markets and have also started to expand with other types of device.
As regards shipments of tablet “white-box” with phone capabilities, the volume in the second quarter was lower than in the first quarter of last year, down more than 15%.
